Long-Distance Wedding Planning?
weirdiscomplimentary asked:
My parents live in Milwaukee, I live in New York, my fiance lives in Boston, and my bridesmaids are scattered across the country. How do we plan a wedding in Seattle when we aren’t moving there until a few months before the wedding date? Is it a bad idea to book ceremony and reception venues without getting a chance to tour them?

I’m planning a wedding in Ohio from Texas. It requires alot of email let me tell ya.
Actually, I have found that most places will work to get your bussines and are happy to snap a few shots of the location with a digital camera and send them to you. Same thing with the other vendors. Don’t wait until a few months before to start picking your locations because the good ones will already be taken by then.
At least you have a few months….I won’t be in Ohio until a few days before. eek!
is there a chance they have a website with lots and lots of pictures or a online tour? like what they do with some hotel rooms?
do you have anyone in Seattle that you can use to scout out and be your picture taker? maybe you can go on theknot.com and check out brides in that area and maybe they will know more.
I am going through this same thing… .I am in New York too. The reception is in Pittsburgh and the bridesmaids are all scattered. It is tough, but I just have to rely heavily on the Internet. I didn’t do a food tasting or pick out the flowers or any of that. I just have to trust that everything will turn out okay. I recommend that provides a ton of local resources where your event is being held. They even offer connections to brides in the area and maybe so can get some referrals. You are just going to have to trust your instincts and try to connect with other brides who have rated those venues. Congratulations and good luck!!!
Ask vendors/locations for references, e-mail is great…but sometimes it is nice to talk to a real person. If you find a vendor you connect with or have a friends in Seattle…ask them for recommendations. Maybe pose another Yahoo question asking for recommendations for locations to your preference (church?, outdoor?, size?, style? etc. ) and get some leads. Craigslist.org also has leads for wedding vendors. Good Luck! Welcome to the Pacific Northwest
You could get a website designed special for your wedding and take a poll….
