New York Marriage License Question?

Hi

Would I be allowed to use my marriage license if it expires the day before I get married? Once I get the license, does it become effective immediately? The reason I ask is because I was planning on going to get the license on 7/13 since I already have to call out from work that day and I wanted to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. My wedding is 9/15 so it’s not within the 60 days period. Would they allow it or should I just get the license on a different date?

You just need to get it on a different date. It wouldn’t be considered valid, and you would end up wasting more money getting a new one.

The license would not be valid, and the officiant can not legally perform the ceremony without a valid license.

There’s no need to get a license early in New York - they’re ordinarily very quickly after they’re requested, if not on the same day.
