Wedding and reception ideas?

I am planning my wedding and looking for some unique ideas to add spice to it. For example, somebody told me I could use sparklers (the colored ones) in my cake. They said have the lights turned off to unvail the cake. Also I am trying to find good places to have my reception. I live in Central New York. Any ideas??

sparklers…bad idea!!! we used them at my brother-in-laws wedding and everyones suit and dress got messed up. could you imagine your cake catching on fire or even eating the cake after sparklers fell on there, not so tasty…we are having a candy bar at our reception. go to knot.com you can get tons of ideas!
Hi. Not a good idea about the sparklers. I really don’t know of any venue that would allow it. Some do not even allow candles now, much less sparklers. Just get a nice cake. Can’t help you with a venue, but check on theknot.com
What about having an exotic theme to your reception? Are you going out of the country for your honeymoon? Plan the reception decorations and menu and music to reflect your destination.
(or plan it with a dream destination in mind. If you can’t get to Morocco or India or Japan right now, bring them to you!)

I got married last year snowbaording. We got married in a little village in Italy, then went up the mountains for food and champagne. All the boys boarded down in their suits……just like 007.
For the reception we had an ceilidh. Which is a form of celtic dance which gets everybody up and having a laugh.
Whatever you decide have agreat time.
There are some really nice places in the Finger Lakes - some of the wineries have catering facilites that will allow you to get married there, and sample their wines.
Where in CNY are you? I’m in WNY, and went to school in CNY, and have family in Syr. If I knew what town I might be able to help more.
Try Sky lanterns at its a really cool idea you’ll be amazed as they float off into the night sky good luck.
there are sparkling candles that you can buy that are made for cakes - don’t use the sparklers that you buy at the roadside fireworks stand unless you want the roof to really be on fire.
sounds like a cool idea though.
think of things that make you and your finace special and try to incorporate that into your wedding/reception.
example: me and my finace have lived in the northwest for several years so we’re serving seafood in a venue that overlooks the puget sound.
You should look…. I went to an amazing wedding there. The person there gave my girlfriend awesome ideas and she even had fireworks at night!!!
