Check out You can check locations in your area. $6500 for 200 people. That’s not going to work. Reception takes almost half of your budget!
You will need to cut WAY down on your guest list in order to STAY in your budget of $6500. With that budget you can have a very lovely and nice wedding :)

Ok, you CAN do this for $6500. Look into public parks, VFW halls, church recreational halls, etc. Our city even has several meeting rooms and banquet rooms that are very inexpensive to rent for residents. I rented a room that holds 250 people in a lodge type building for about $500 for my daughter’s graduation party that we’re hosting in May, the building is in a city park that just happens to be right next to our subdivision, we have access to a full kitchen and everything. We’ve got the room for 8 hours, so it CAN be done, you just have to think outside the box a bit. Good luck!

I agree that you CAN host a wedding for 200 people for $6500 but you will have to be creative. I am not sure what you are near but a park, beach, some inexpensive venue will have to be used. Also the food and drink do take up most of your budget. I will tell you from experience don’t skimp on the photography and flowers. The pictures are your memories and the flowers aid in decorating. I searched “wedding in dfw area” and for this photographer on craigslist. I also saw a few caterers and bakers on there. I chose to spend lots of money in these areas and I spent a lot less on my wedding dress. I was still very pretty and happy with what I chose. And if I have to do it all over again I wouldn’t do it differently!
Not to worry, you can do it!

A VFW, a museum, a park, a church, any pace that caters to companies might be able to help. The best places are places that don’t cater to weddings. If you have it on a weekday night, you will probably save money. You will also save money if you find a spot that most people don’t hold wedding receptions.

I know im in the UK and your in us but we are in the same situtation, we have hardly any money so are getting married in Rhodes in Greece and having a party when we get back, that way if people wanna come they can book themselves and pay and we can still have 2 celebrations, plus we get two wedding nights ;)
